Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, has been serving as a country retreat in some way, shape or form since 1859. It sits in 150 acres, on the outskirts of Norwich. You can reach the city centre, with its cathedral, castle and popular market within 15 minutes’ drive. But there are plenty of reasons not to leave.

Starting with an 18-hole golf course and a 22-bay floodlit driving range for practising your swing. There’s also an Elemis spa and a health club with an indoor pool, steam room and sauna. The trio of dining spots includes a Bar & Lounge and Bunkers Bar, by the golf course, where you can grab sandwiches and lighter dishes, as well as hearty mains. The Brasserie Restaurant serves the likes of pork belly, goat’s cheese risotto and baked cod fillet, all in sight of the hotel’s beautiful gardens.

As for rooms, the ones in the main house are the best. They flaunt original features and extra perks, like a complimentary minibar, Nespresso coffee machine and fluffy robes. Lots of the rooms come with views of the countryside or golf course, as well.
