Liverpool’s best attractions are all fairly localised in the centre of the city and around the Mersey, but there are still some decisions to make about exactly where you’ll want to stay.
Choose a central hotel if you’re visiting the city for a night out. Liverpool’s an extremely friendly city that really comes to life at night, and you’ll want to make the most of every minute that you can enjoy the bars and clubs – being able to walk just a few minutes to your hotel is a huge bonus.
It’s also the best place to stay for shopping in Liverpool One – this open-air shopping centre has a huge range of chain stores and you’ll definitely want to be near your hotel room when carrying all those bags at the end of the day.
But you can also stay closer to the Royal Albert Dock if you’re more interested in the cultural attractions of the city, such as the Tate, The Beatles Story Museum or the Titanic Memorial. You’re only a 15-minute walk from the city centre still, but you’ll get beautiful views of the waterfront.
This is also the best place to stay if you’re looking for a pre-cruise hotel – Liverpool is the biggest city in the north for cruise holiday departures, and a hotel here is ideal for making sure you don’t miss the boat.
If you’re visiting Liverpool for football, Anfield is in the northeastern part of the city, while Everton’s new stadium due to open in 2025 is in the northern part of the Docklands. Last minute hotels in Liverpool close to the stadiums are perfect for match-goers.
