Insider Tips for the Lake District

      • If you’ve never done the Lakes and are planning a trip without any idea where’s best, choose Ambleside. Most people recommend it for its excellent mix of pubs, restaurants and the scenery right on the doorstep.
      • Parking in Bowness can be pretty difficult during peak season, and it’s pricey, so if you’re driving, make sure you choose a hotel with onsite parking to save circling the town looking for spaces.
      • If your options are limited when searching for a night, try looking for 2+ nights – some hotels have a 2-night minimum stay, and you might find a better option worthy of adding on a night.
